The problem

A failing 1930s concrete tile roof was slipping tiles after every gale and the mortar ridge had cracked right along the run, letting water into the loft.

What we did

We scaffolded, stripped the roof back to the rafters, re-boarded and re-laid it in natural slate with a breathable membrane, code-graded lead valleys and a mortar-free dry ridge and verge.

The problem

The felt roof over a rear extension had blistered and split, and two other firms had told the homeowner the whole extension roof needed rebuilding.

What we did

The deck was sound underneath. We stripped the old felt, laid a new OSB3 deck and bonded a single-piece EPDM membrane with preformed trims — no seams to fail.

The problem

Water was staining a bedroom ceiling after driving rain. The stack's mortar joints had eroded and the old cement fillet at the roof line had cracked away.

What we did

We raked out and repointed the stack, renewed the flaunching and replaced the cement fillet with proper code-4 lead step flashing and soakers.

The problem

February gales lifted roughly half the ridge line off a semi-detached house and dropped tiles into the garden, with more rain forecast overnight.

What we did

We were on site the same afternoon to make the roof safe and sheet it, then returned to re-bed the ridge and replace every cracked and missing tile.

The problem

A steady drip into the loft after heavy rain, with a scatter of slipped and cracked tiles and several rusted-through nibs across the front slope.

What we did

Rather than sell a re-roof the homeowner didn't need, we overhauled the slope: re-fixed the slipped tiles, swapped the broken ones for reclaimed matches and re-pointed the verge.

The problem

An old mineral felt garage roof was ponding water and had started to rot the deck at the low edge, soaking the boxes stored underneath.

What we did

We stripped it back, replaced the rotten deck boards, corrected the falls with firrings and laid a seamless GRP fibreglass roof with a new outlet and trims.

The problem

A loft conversion was going ahead and the room needed natural light without disturbing the character of an old slate roof.

What we did

We cut and trimmed the openings, installed two rooflights with slate flashing kits and made every joint watertight before the plasterers went in.

The problem

The timber fascias had rotted behind the gutters, the guttering was sagging, and overflow was running down the brickwork and staining the render.

What we did

We stripped the timber back, fitted new UPVC fascias, soffits and barge boards, hung black ogee guttering to a proper fall and re-set the verge tiles on dry-verge clips.

The problem

The problem

Nail fatigue had left slates slipping across both slopes, and the cement-filled valleys were splitting and leaking into the back bedroom.

The problem

Estuary winds lifted a run of mortar-bedded ridge tiles off an exposed bungalow, leaving debris in the garden and an open ridge line before more rain arrived.

The problem

A converted barn on the edge of Dunmow had perished felt under the original pantiles, sagging battens and cement fillets around the stack that were cracked all the way round.

We scaffolded the full elevation, stripped and sorted the sound pantiles for re-use, re-battened over a breathable membrane and formed proper code-graded lead flashings at the chimney and abutments.

The problem

Water was tracking down a bedroom wall of a High Street cottage every time it rained hard. The old valley lead had split and previous repairs were patched with mortar and sealant.

What we did

Access was tight, so we worked off a scaffold tower to the rear. We stripped the valley, fitted new code-graded lead over a proper timber lay board and re-slated both sides with reclaimed slate.

The problem

A period townhouse in the conservation area was losing handmade peg tiles after every gale, with nail fatigue across the whole slope and two failing valleys.

What we did

We stripped carefully, salvaged every sound handmade tile and made up the shortfall with matched reclaimed peg tiles, then re-laid over breathable membrane with new lead valleys and lime-bedded ridge to keep the character.
