Slipped and broken tiles
Nail fatigue on older clay peg tiles and cracked concrete interlockers around Bocking End and the town centre terraces. We replace like-for-like and check the whole course, not just the gap you can see from the pavement.

Slipped tiles, a leaking chimney flashing, a ridge letting go after a windy night — most Braintree roofs need attention long before they need replacing. Our yard is in Braintree, so a repair here is a short van ride rather than a scheduling problem.
Repairs we carry out
Nail fatigue on older clay peg tiles and cracked concrete interlockers around Bocking End and the town centre terraces. We replace like-for-like and check the whole course, not just the gap you can see from the pavement.
Loose ridge tiles and crumbling verge mortar are the single most common call we get from the 1960s–80s semis. Re-bedded in a proper mix, or converted to dry ridge and dry verge where it suits the roof.
Chimney abutments, dormer cheeks and porch junctions. Cracked mortar fillets get replaced with code-graded lead chased into the joint so the repair outlives the next storm.
Split or blocked valleys push water sideways under the tiles and show up as a ceiling stain nowhere near the fault. We clear, reline or renew, and sort the guttering while the ladders are up.
Ridge tiles off, verges stripped, felt torn. We make safe first, photograph everything for your insurer, then price the permanent repair.
Blistered felt and split seams on rear extensions and garages. Patched where a patch is honest, re-covered where it isn't.
Guide prices
Real figures from jobs we quote locally. Access, roof pitch and how much of the roof is affected move the number — you always get a fixed written price after the survey.

|---|---|
| Replace a handful of slipped or cracked tiles | from £150 |
| Re-bed a run of ridge tiles | from £450 |

Guide prices only, inclusive of labour and materials but excluding scaffolding where a job needs it. Every quote is confirmed in writing before work starts.
How we work
Local knowledge
Different parts of Braintree throw up different faults, so the repair we quote is rarely the same twice.
Victorian and Edwardian terraces with clay peg tiles, no sarking felt and shared valleys between properties. Repairs here are usually tile replacement, valley work and chimney leadwork.
Modern estate housing where the roofs themselves are sound but ridge and verge mortar, dry-verge clips and small flat roofs over bays and porches are the recurring problems.
A mix of period cottages and post-war semis. Older properties often need careful like-for-like tile matching rather than a modern substitute.
Bigger detached properties and converted outbuildings, frequently with a mixture of pitched and flat roof areas that need two different repairs in one visit.
