Drone carrying out an aerial roof survey over a house in Braintree, Essex

Roof inspections & surveys in Braintree

You can't price a roof properly from the pavement. A proper inspection — from the roof, the loft and the air — tells you what's actually wrong, what can wait, and what a fair price for the work looks like before you commit to anything.

Inspections

Types of roof survey we carry out

Drone roof survey

4K aerial photography over the whole roof — ridges, valleys, chimneys and behind parapets — with no scaffolding and no walking on fragile coverings.

Hands-on roof inspection

Where access allows, up on the roof to check fixings, mortar and lead by hand. Photos and video of anything we find.

Loft and underside inspection

Half of what a roof is doing is only visible from inside — damp staining, daylight through the felt, rotten battens and inadequate ventilation.

Pre-purchase roof survey

Buying a house in Braintree and worried about the roof? A written condition report and photos before you exchange, so you know what you're taking on.

Storm and insurance reports

Dated photographic evidence and a written description of the damage in a format insurers accept.

Written condition report

Plain-English summary: what's sound, what needs doing now, what to budget for in a few years, with indicative costs.

  • Guttering, fascias, soffits and downpipe drainage
  • Flat roof areas, upstands, falls and outlets
  • Loft: membrane, battens, timber condition, insulation and ventilation

Local knowledge

Roof surveys across the Braintree area

Drone surveys are especially useful on the local housing types where access is awkward or expensive.

CM7 terraces

Rear elevations and shared valleys that are difficult to reach without scaffolding across neighbouring properties.

Period property and tall stacks

Chimney tops and flaunching photographed close-up without a tower or cherry picker.

Great Notley and CM77 estates

Quick whole-roof surveys before buying, or after a storm, to check ridge caps and dry-verge clips.

Barns and outbuildings

Fragile and asbestos-cement roofs surveyed from the air rather than walked on.

Common questions

Roof inspection FAQs

Do you charge for a roof inspection?
A survey carried out to quote work you're considering is free. A standalone written condition report — for a purchase or an insurance claim — is a chargeable piece of work, priced before we book it.
How long does a drone roof survey take?
Usually 30 to 45 minutes on site for a typical house, with the photos and written summary sent through afterwards.
Can you inspect a roof without scaffolding?
Yes — that's exactly what the drone is for. Scaffolding is only needed once work starts, and only where the job requires it.
Will you tell me if my roof doesn't need work?
Yes, and we do regularly. A survey that concludes 'clean the gutters and check again in three years' is a perfectly good outcome.
